Who doesn't love a good love story? We definitely do!
Last year, Don Hyslop and his beautiful wife won a trip to Liscombe, by participating in our Liscombe Lodge Lovers contest.
This was his entry:
" On August 11, 1973 my wife and I were married in Middleton Nova Scotia and later that afternoon after the reception we headed to Liscombe Lodge to spend our first night as man and wife in one of the beautiful chalets. Several weeks before our wedding I had suffered a serious injury playing baseball. I broke the bones on both sides of my right ankle as well as tearing all the ligaments. But the few days we spent at Liscombe on our honeymoon almost 42 years ago, were marvelous. The chalet was beautiful and the meals at the Lodge were great. I couldn't do too much except sit on the deck and soak up the sun. I have always wanted to revisit and this time carry the luggage instead of having to have my wife do it.. The two photos reflect our wedding day and our last anniversary. Would love to spend our next one with you."
Having had such a wonderful time last year, they returned again this year for their 43rd anniversary and even stayed in the same chalet they stayed at in 1973.
We were so excited to welcome them back again, their love story is one of our favourites.
Don had this to say about his returning stay to our Nova Scotia resort:
" After winning a contest last year and getting such a great stay at Liscombe celebrating our 42nd Anniversary, we had to return this year to celebrate once again. Instead of staying at the Riverside Lodge this time, we decided to book a chalet just like we did on our honeymoon 43 years ago. What a wonderful time we had! Not only was our stay at the chalet excellent but we were once again totally impressed with the professionalism of the dining room staff. The planked salmon dinner was fabulous as well. Thanks for another great time! "

So where do you take all 160 members of your family, where they can eat, drink and be merry without bugging the neighbors? Well Liscombe Lodge on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia of course!
For the past year, Terra has been working with our General Manager Karen and Front Office Manager, Audrey, to pull this shindig together. After multiple emails and phone calls, guests arrived one Saturday morning in late July.
They were greeted with welcome letters, outlining their weekend, they checked and were free to roam the grounds. Before dinner, there was a group photo op, followed by a huge buffet dinner and dance!
Sunday kicked off with a buffet breakfast and a day full of activities planned by Terra, Karen and Audrey. Free activities at Liscombe Lodge include kayaking, paddle boats, tennis courts, washer toss, basketball, horse shoes, table tennis and much more!
All of these activities were followed by an evening of s'mores, a bonfire and swimming. As the sun set on a fabulous weekend, the who reunion was the talk of Facebook for weeks following.
Liscombe Lodge LOVES planning any special event for you and your friends, family and guests. We provide meals, activities and enough beds for everyone, including pets! So the next time you want to gather your WHOLE family in one spot, we have just the place!
