Liscombe Lodge Gives Back!

Friday, October 30th, 2015

  • St.-Marys-Academy-300x225
  • Duncan-MacMillan-School-Donaiton-300x225

We’re located in a small community, so we love any opportunity to give back to them!

Over the season we held fundraisers like lobster dinners, Christmas packages, a duck race, Chase the Ace and 50/50 draws!

We raised $2,500 and decided to donate the proceeds to breakfast programs at local schools as well as the local community! We gave a portion to Duncan MacMillan High School and another portion to St. Mary’s Academy. Duncan MacMillan will be sharing their portion with Sheet Harbour Consolidated School! Keep passing on the good karma!

Finally, we used the remainder of the funds to donate to a local food shelter. We also helped an employee who was diagnosed with Cancer this past Spring!

Thank you to all of our guests, staff and friends at Liscombe Lodge Resort who helped support such a great cause!

Games For The Campfire!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2015

  • bonfire-300x199

When you think of a campfire, you think s’mores, roasting hot dogs and telling ghost stories right? Well of course, those are the best parts!

But when bellies are full and storytellers have tired themselves out, campfire games are the best way to spend time as a family!

So we thought we’d give you some great campfire game ideas!

1) Make Me Laugh

This game is simple: Make other’s laugh, while not laughing yourself!

Divide your group into two teams and decide which team is “on stage” first. Then choose one person from the opposing team to be on the “hot seat.” Set the timer for 2 minutes. The team that’s on stage has one simple goal: to make the person on the hot seat laugh.

When someone cracks, his or her team has to take their turn on stage. If the player can keep a straight face for the entire two minutes, he earns a point for his team.

2) Two Truths and A Lie

Everyone in the group shares three facts about themselves. Here’s the catch: two of the things are true, but one is a complete farce. The other players have to try to guess which one is the lie.

Get creative! Think of some silly situations you have been in and make everyone laugh! “I wrestle alligators” “I can boil water with my mind”

3) Telephone

A classic game that everybody loves! What better way to pass on traditions to generations then around a campfire!

The fun begins when that person quietly whispers a message to another person. This secret message is passed from one person to another until the last person announces it to the entire group.

The last person has to relay the message they think they heard, usually quite different from the beginning of the circle!
